Garden open house
FARMINGTON – There will be a Learning Garden open house from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension office, 147 Farmington Falls Road.
Featured will raised bed gardens with vegetable and flowers, including demonstrations on pest management, growing sweet potatoes and maximizing food production in a small space.

College workshop

Food, craft sale
PHILLIPS – There will be a food and craft sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, on the lawn of the Phillips Congregational Church.
Under the tent, shoppers will find not only an array of treats and unique crafts, but also they can attend the quilt show inside the church. The sale will benefit the Shared Ministry Women.
Raffle tickets on two quilts are available from any church member. Drawing will be held Sunday, Aug. 17.
The next Shared Ministry Women’s meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Community House. All members and friends of the Shared Ministry are invited.
Concerts on lawn
WILTON – The East Wilton Union Church will host its annual “Concerts on the Lawn” during August. The public is invited to the 6 p.m. concerts.
Chairs are provided. In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be held inside. Light refreshments and a time of fellowship will follow each concert.
The concerts are free, but there will be an opportunity for a free-will offering. The schedule is as follows: Aug. 10, Greater Purpose; Aug. 17, New Beginnings; and Aug. 24, Unite-Ignite.
