FARMINGTON – The Healthy Community Coalition has invited residents to join garden volunteers, staff members and NorthStar Ambulance Services’ bike team for a garden celebration from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, at the Hope Harvest Community Garden, located on the grounds of Franklin Memorial Hospital.

To get to the garden, enter the hospital main driveway, take the first left turn, then the next left turn to the Stanley Building.

Those attending may visit the garden in full bloom, learn about the volunteer opportunities and help needed at the garden and how to help that day, too.

People will be able to tour the coalition’s new mobile health unit, have a blood pressure check and have free healthy snacks.

NorthStar’s bike team will discuss how to ride safely. They will have low cost bike helmets available for kids or bring a helmet to get a free fit check.

Hope Harvest Community Garden is a Healthy Community Coalition project relying on community volunteers, now in its fifth year of growing vegetables for food pantries in Franklin County.

In the past four years, more than 5,600 pounds of vegetables went to area food pantries. The garden is child and adult friendly. For more information, call 645-3136 or toll free at 1-800-525-3136.
