LISBON – The Lisbon Rotary Club presented Monica Millhime, community resource coordinator for the Lisbon School Department, a Paul Harris Fellowship Award on June 3.
The award was made during the Tuesday morning breakfast meeting at Blake’s Restaurant. Millhime has been a Rotarian for more than 20 years, with affiliation in the Lewiston and Lisbon clubs, serving both groups as the club service director and chairing a number of projects for the fellowship groups.
“Rotarians often designate a Paul Harris Fellow as a tribute to a person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of the Rotary Foundation. A world of peace and good will comes closer to reality today as Monica becomes a Paul Harris Fellow,” said Lisbon Rotary President Ruben Cornelius.
“Monica was selected to receive this recognition because fellow Lisbon Rotarians believe her life exemplifies the humanitarian and educational objectives of the Rotary Foundation.
We thank Monica for demonstrating in her life and vocation a commitment to helping persons in need throughout our community and around the world,” said Cornelius.
The Fellow presentation is the Rotary Foundation’s way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programs.
The fellowship was named for Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer who started Rotary International with three business associates in 1905.
The fellowship was established in his honor in 1957. Programs include an array of projects that save and invigorate the lives of people around the world and enhance international friendship and understanding.
Accompanying Millhime at the presentation was her husband, Jim, of Durham, and Rotary Assistant Governor Sylvia Plourde.
