Karaoke Saturday

NORWAY – There will be karaoke from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the American Legion Post 82. Professional DJ’s “The Old Crows” and food will be available. Cost is $6 per person.

Gospel concert

OXFORD – A gospel concert by gospel singer and recording artist Ken Fernald will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at Oxford Congregational Church, King Street. Fernald is the former host of the channel 27 Christian talk/variety program “Born Again New England” and has hosted many radio programs. A community supper will follow from 5 to 6 p.m. Menu will include turkey, ham, baked beans, casseroles, salads, homemade pies and beverages. Cost for the supper is $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children ages 5 and under.

Book sale

WATERFORD – The Waterford Library will hold its annual book sale on Friday, July 4, as part of the Waterford Village Independence Day celebration. The sale will be held at the library lawn from 8 a.m. to noon and will include a large selection of hardcover books for $2, trade paperbacks for $1 each and mass market paperbacks for .50 cents. Children’s books are $2 or $1. The sale will also include some videos and audio books. The library will be open during the hours of the book sale. The Waterford Library is located on routes 35/37 in Waterford Flat near the old town hall on Keoka Lake.

Cruisin’ in Paris

PARIS – The Uptown Cruizahs meets the third Tuesday of every month. They organize cruises to places such as an automotive memorabilia museum in Sumner and Wells Auto museum. They also sponsor a weekly cruise night at Advance Auto in Paris every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m There is food, music, 50/50, raffles, T-shirts for sale and beautiful old vehicles to admire.

Profits go to charitable contributions to places like the Maine Veterans home in Paris. They are also working toward a scholarship for students going on to further their education in the automotive field. To obtain an application contact Les Wing at 539-0941 or Walter Reed at 539-8579.

Bridge play

NORWAY – The Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met June 20 at the Fare Share Commons where a five-table Howell movement was enjoyed.

Finishing first in flight A were Lois Barr and Cynthia Clifford; second, Barbara Beegel and Les Buzzell; third, Marilyn and Richard Canton.
