Dow seniors
AUBURN – Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at the Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, 426 Washington St. There will be the usual raffle table, and donations will be appreciated. Following the meeting and a bag lunch, bingo will be played. Members are reminded to bring their cups.
When the group met June 11 under the direction of President Virginia Houston, 55 members were present. Paula Mikkelsen of Ithaca, N.Y., was welcomed as a guest. Treasurer Irving Grant is ill at home. Assistant treasurer Lee Koss will fill the position in the meantime.
Those having birthdays in June were recognized. A successful food auction was held, with Alwin Strout as auctioneer. Attendance prize winners were Frances Robitaille and Helen McGuire; pot of gold, Lee Whittle, Wally Dixon and Helen McGuire.
Fifty-five members and their guests recently took a trip to Foster’s Lobster House, York. Plans are being made for a foliage trip in the fall.
Fellowship meet
LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Area Widows Fellowship will meet on Monday, July 7, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. The gathering will begin for fellowship at 11:30 a.m. followed by a potluck lunch. All interested widows in the area are invited.
Office closed
DURHAM – The Durham Town Office will be closed for vacation from June 30 to July 6. The office will reopen for regular business at 9 a.m. Monday, July 7. For more information, call 353-2561, ext. 2, 3 or 4.
Farmers market
DURHAM – The Durham Farmers Market will be held again this year at Durham River Park, Route 136, on the first and third Saturdays, July through October. There will be more products and vendors this year, including fresh produce, fruit, jams, jellies, pickles, alpaca fiber, eggs and local cheese and jewelry. Drawing winner
LEEDS – In recognition of National Men’s Health Week, DFD Russell Medical Centers partnered with the Maine Primary Care Association and Hannaford Food Stores and offered men within the community a chance to win a $100 gift card.
George Glidden, Monmouth, qualified for the drawing, by visiting his local health center and taking part in the recent free health screening. He won the $100 gift card.
Bridge results
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club held its quarterly Tuesday morning club championship game on June 17 at the Multi-Purpose Center.
Overall winners in Flight A were: first, Luke Merry and Michael Quinn; second, David Lock and Patricia Garcia.
Overall winners in Flight B were: first, Richard Balian and Peter Cummings; second, Jim Flanagan and Larry Fortier.
North/South winners in Flight A were: first, Richard Balian and Peter Cummings; second, Leslie Buzzell and Nancy Lindgren; third, Fred Letourneau and Jeanine Kivus. Flight B winners were Richard Balian and Peter Cummings.
East/West winners in Flight A were: first, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; second, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; third, Pat Quinn and Mary Leahey. Flight B winners were: first, Jim Flanagan and Larry Fortier; second, Ron and Connie Reynolds. Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the center.
The club also held its quarterly Wednesday club championship on June 18 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Overall winners in Flight A were: first, Anna Vitiello and Lucille Theriault; second, Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin; third, Mike and Pat Quinn; fourth, Paul Barber and Luke Merry. Winners in Flight B were: first, Ron and Connie Reynolds; second, Doug and Betty Sise.
