NORTH TURNER – The North Turner Presbyterian Church is celebrating the arrival of summer and the annual return of friends to Bear Pond with a Cookbook Tasting Supper on Friday, June 20.

This year’s annual welcome back supper will feature dishes made from the church’s new cookbook, “Blissful Bread and Other Sustenance.” Church members at the May public supper made dozens of recipes from the cookbook.

There were several old-time favorites like pineapple casserole and mac and cheese, while those attending also sampled Oklahoma Dirt Cake made famous at the annual Mud Suppers along with orange fluff salad, sweet and sour meatballs and three kinds of soup.

Church members will make a wide variety of choices for this supper as well. Cookbooks will be on sale for $12 each.

Church members had a busy time this winter gathering the recipes and putting the cookbook together and are looking forward to sharing it with community members as well as summer friends.

Money raised during the church’s public suppers throughout the summer and the cookbook sales will comprise the year’s fundraising efforts for the church and have proven invaluable in keeping the doors open.

The supper will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 20, at the GAR Hall, Route 219. There is no set cost, but free will donations are welcome.
