Church reopens

NORTH NEW PORTLAND – The North New Portland Community Church, Church Street, will reopen for services at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 15, after being closed for the winter. The church, located in the gateway to the upper Kennebec River Valley, has been undergoing restoration and now boasts a restored steeple and nearly completed face and bell tower.

In July the annual summer “Anglers’ Service,” will celebrate the way of life of the western mountains region, and the church bell will be reinstalled in the bell tower in conjunction with the New Portland Bicentennial Celebration.

Everyone is welcome at the June 15 service. For more information, call the Rev. Scott Planting at 778-4654 or Fairbanks Union Church at 778-4705.
