LEWISTON – The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Patrick’s Parish recently established a scholarship fund for high school seniors in the area who will start college in the fall.

This year $2,000 scholarships were awarded to Jordann Bessey and Janna Laverdiere. Both attend Lewiston High School and were teammates on the varsity ice hockey team.

Bessey, daughter of Pam Murphy and Chris Bessey, will attend the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Laverdiere, daughter of Margie and Marc Laverdiere, will attend Michigan State University.

Both are members of the National Honor Society and have been involved in several extracurricular activities. Both also have done extensive volunteer work for the community.
