AUGUSTA – A United Ambulance Service’s EMS provider was recognized at the Maine EMS system awards presentation at the State House Hall of Flags on May 20.

EMT-Intermediate Gerry Pineau was presented a merit award for his work and dedication to the EMS community during the last year.

The Maine EMS Web site describes the criteria for the award as one “conferred to those who have made an exceptional contribution to the EMS system at the local or regional level and who have demonstrated involvement and contribution in one or more areas of EMS activity.”

Pineau has been employed with United Ambulance Service since April of 2001 and has had various responsibilities and done patient care activities during those years.

His most recent accomplishments include a position as chairman of United’s All Hazards Committee, which was tasked with redesigning United’s response procedures/planning to be implemented during a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI).

In addition to the design and implementation of the plan, the committee provided training for many of the local public service agencies located throughout United’s coverage area.
