FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Animal Shelter has lots of cats and dogs, and those are what most people are looking for as pets.
But staff said they have an adorable guinea pig named Scurvy that needs a home, too.
He likes to play in his castle, which is actually a cardboard box with holes cut out. Scurvy is easily amused and pleased.
He would make an ideal pet for anyone who doesn’t have time for a cat or dog.
Although pocket pets do not carry with them the same responsibilities as other companion animals, they still need love and attention and a clean cage.
All the supplies go with him – a cage, food and some treats. Someone looking for a pet but who does not have time for a cat or dog should visit the shelter and meet Scurvy.
For more information, call 778-2638.
The shelter is hosting a lawn sale on Friday and Saturday, May 23 and May 24, as well as the week of May 26 through 31. All proceeds will benefit the animals at the shelter.
