LEWISTON – Maine Event Cheer All-Stars recently attended the Final Destination – World’s Best Cheer Competition in Virginia Beach. Maine Event Cheer and Dance Center had six teams qualify and two teams brought home first place.

The competition only takes teams that qualify at a previous cheering event and the teams have to place either first, second or third. Maine Event’s teams qualified for the World’s Best with six first-place bids for their teams. It is a season-ending event for all-star cheering teams.

The 2007-2008 season proved to be a successful one for Maine Event, with 25 first-place finishes and 10 national championship titles. Maine Event is in the process of planning the 2008/2009 season.

An open house will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday May 17, in the Roy Continental Mill, 2 Cedar St., and evaluations for the next season will also be held then.

Maine Event will also have an open house and evaluations from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at 126 Main St., Topsham, Maine Event’s second location. Those interested may stop by either location and sign up to be a member of a cheer and/or dance team.
