Richelieu to meet

AUBURN – Local chapter of Club Richelieu International will hold its last meeting of the season at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Rolandeau’s 775 Washington St. Richelieu NE Governor Roger Lacerte of Lowell, Mass., will preside for installation of officers.

Breastfeeding

AUBURN – Pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers are invited to the La Leche League meeting to be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are welcome. Discussion will focus on “The Advantages of Breastfeeding for Mother and Baby.”

All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion. For breastfeeding help or directions to the meeting, call the La Leche League leader at 782-6645.

Grange to elect

GREENE – Androscoggin Junior Grange 185 met on May 6 at the hall for a regular session and election of officers. They will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, with tentative plans to plant flowers as a community service project.

All of the children have received their binders with information on various badges that they can earn either on their own or as a group.

Waste collection

DURHAM – The town of Durham spring bulk waste collection will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 17, on Route 136, behind Durham Eureka Community Center Field.

It is for Durham residents only and a license or bill with name and address for Durham will be needed.

Make-up reg

MONMOUTH – Make-up kindergarten registration for the H.L. Cottrell School will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 5, at the school. Children must be age 5 on or before Oct. 15.

A copy of the child’s original birth certificate, Social Security number and health record, including immunization dates, will be needed. The child will be checked for height, weight, vision and hearing as well as a brief screening with a staff member.

Bring only the child who will be registering. Call the school for an appointment at 933-4426.

Nutrition class

LEWISTON – Debbie Pepper-Dougherty will lead an informational session on how to get the most from food eaten to reach fitness and performance goals. All ages are welcome.

The class will be held from 6;30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the Nutrition Center of Maine, corner of Bates and Walnut streets. The cost is $10. For more information or to register, call 753-5466.

DAR at mall

AUBURN – Members of Mary Dillingham Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, were at the Auburn Mall recently to help prospective members start the application process, to answer questions and to interest passers-by in researching their ancestry.

Any woman is eligible to join who can prove direct lineage to any person involved in the establishment of the country during the Revolutionary War as a soldier, doctor, minister/chaplain, supplier in arms or goods or other service.

Mary Dillingham Chapter was established in 1895, the second oldest chapter in the state. The organization’s objectives are historic preservation, education and promotion of patriotism.
