WILTON – Students are invited to sign up for Foothills Summer Arts “Branching Out” workshops in 2-D and 3-D art, songwriting, theater, writing and creative dance. All levels of experience, from beginner to advanced, are welcome.

The programs will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at Academy Hill School. Session I, for students now in grades four to six, will be held July 7 to 11, and Session II, for students in grades seven to 12, will take place July 14 to 18.

There will be opportunities for individual quiet projects, as well as group learning that hones teamwork skills.

The Foothills Summer Arts artist-teachers are professionals who perform and exhibit throughout Maine and teach in public schools and in their own studios.

Scholarships and reduced fees are available for families who cannot afford the full tuition of $150. The reduced fees are made possible by a sponsorship donation from Franklin Savings Bank and other donations from local businesses and individuals.

SAD 36 will provide a school bus to and from Foothills Summer Arts for students in the Jay-Livermore area. Foothills Arts Center helps other families put together carpools.

The arts center, located in the old Bass-Wilson building, is a nonprofit organization founded in 1989 to bring together children and adults, artists and audiences to share the arts in an atmosphere that encourages learning, exploration and collaboration.
