Auction slated
FRYEBURG – The 15th annual Saco Valley 4-H Beef, Dairy and Sheep Club Take-A-Chance auction will be held Saturday, May 10, at the Forestry Building, Fryeburg Fairgrounds.
Viewing of items will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. and the drawing will begin at 7. There will be a food booth, $1 table and a 50/50 raffle to benefit Priscilla Boiven, who is battling cancer. For more information, contact Barbara or Diane Gushee at 935-2248.
VFW supper
HARRISON – A public supper will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the VFW Hall, Route 35. The menu will include baked beans, brown bread, casseroles, salads, pies and beverage. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12. It is being sponsored by Ronald G. St. John VFW Post Auxiliary 9328.
Grange supper
OXFORD – A public supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Oxford Grange, Route 26. The menu will include ham with raisin sauce and assorted pies. Cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12.
Finnish meal
WEST PARIS – There will be a public buffet supper at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Finnish-American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St. It will feature Finnish and American foods and is sponsored by the Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine. Cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children 12 and under.
Hee Haw show
WOODSTOCK – Franklin Grange 124 will hold its annual spring “Mock Hee Haw” show at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 10. The show includes the following: Del Parker, Ginger Mae, Richard Felt, Eric Wight, Bill Rice, Cack Bean, Kenney Nowlin, Claire Gelinas, Herman the Black Mt. Hobo and Minnie Pearl. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Rod Swain will be on the piano.
Supper for DI team
OTISFIELD – A spaghetti supper will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Otisfield Community School, Powhattan Road, to raise funds for the Destination Imagination SAD 17 students traveling to the global competition later this month in Tennessee. The dinner will include spaghetti, meatballs, salad, dessert and drink. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children under 10 and kids under 3 are free.
Church service
PARIS – Sunday, May 11, is Mother’s Day and Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road, Paris, will observe the day. Sunday school for children and Bible study for adults will start at 9 a.m. with the worship at 10:15. All are welcome. Following worship service, there will be coffee, refreshments and fellowship.
Church celebration
PARIS – The First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., Paris will celebrate two days on Sunday, May 11. It is Pentecost Sunday, the day the Christian church celebrates the Holy Spirit and it is Mother’s Day.
The Rev. Don Mayberry’s sermon is titled “The Gift of Spirit and Love.” The choir and music program is under the direction of Virginia Noble. For more information, contact the church office at 743-2437.

The church will celebrate Children’s Sunday on Sunday, May 18. As the Sunday school year concludes, the church will dedicate the service to focusing on the children of the church.
District art show
PARIS – The annual district art show for SAD 17 will be held Tuesday through Friday, May 13 to 16, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, Paris. The theme is “Celebrate the WORK of art.”
Artwork from grades kindergarten through 12 students will be on display in the forum and hallways from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday.
