LEWISTON – The Saints Peter and Paul Society will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Sunday, May 4, with a special breakfast at 8 a.m. in the Dominican Conference Room. The guest speaker will be the Very Rev. Robert D. Lariviere, rector of the basilica.
The society is an organization of Catholic men and women founded in 1988 when the members of the Ladies of St. Anne and Holy Name Society voted to merge. The society’s bylaws have been revised to focus on the basilica’s mission of evangelization.
Over time, the society will implement a number of goals to include providing pamphlets on Papal encyclicals and Vatican teachings and holding classes with the opportunity to discuss various areas of interest, from liturgy to contemporary issues.
Since the basilica is visited by tourists from all over the world, the society will also provide a revised self-guided tour brochure, with special added features.
Membership is open to Catholics at least 18 years of age. For more information, contact President Robert M. Gilbert at 784-6344.
