CANTON – A free ATV safety course, sponsored by the Canton Trail Riders, Western Maine ATV Club and the Mountain View ATV Club, will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at the old fire station, Route 140.

Kids 10 and up must be accompanied by a legal guardian or parent and must be present the entire day. Registration deadline is Saturday, May 10, first-come, first-served. Those attending can bring their own lunch or there are stores nearby.

It is mud season and all ATV trails are closed. Local police departments have been advised.

Anyone caught on the trails will be liable for damages. Trails are posted and the weather will determine when they will be opened. The tentative date is Thursday, May 15.
