Artist reception
LEWISTON – A reception for Lewiston-born artist Paul Fortin will be held for his one-of-a-kind works on display at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center’s Beeaker Gallery. The reception will take place from 5 to 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 1.
“Riddles in an Enigma” is a collection of colorful paintings that reflect a continuous healing, embracing the poetic rhythms of the heart.
The self-taught artist’s work will be on exhibit through May 12 at the Beeaker Gallery. The artwork may be purchased by calling the Sisters of Charity Foundation at 777-8863, and 25 percent of the sales will be designated to the arts fund at St. Mary’s.
Grange program
TURNER – CWA Night will be observed by Androscoggin Pomona Grange when members meet on Wednesday, April 2, at Turner Grange for a 6:30 p.m. supper followed by the meeting at 7:30.
The program will be presented by the Committee on Women’s Activities. Subordinate members who won the whoopie pie contest are reminded to bring their entries to this meeting for judging. A 50/50 raffle and attendance drawing will be held. All members and guests are welcome.
Club luncheon
MONMOUTH – The Golden Years Club will hold its first luncheon meeting of the spring season on Wednesday, April 2, with a noon potluck luncheon at the Packard Activity Center (United Church basement.) All area senior citizens are welcome to attend. Possible spring activities will be discussed.
OES to install
MECHANIC FALLS – Dwinal Chapter 28, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold open installation of officers at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the Masonic Hall.
Colleen Tibbetts will be installed worthy matron and Bruce MacDonald, worthy patron. Carolyn Bennett, past matron, will be the installing matron, assisted by Keith Bennett, past patron, as installing patron; Linda Bell, installing marshal; Alice McInnis, installing chaplain; and Susan Glines, installing organist. Crystal McKay, grand marshal, will be the soloist, and Mary Stowell, will present the Star Point Ceremony.
Other chapter officers being installed are: Kathy Williamson, associate matron; Keith Bennett, associate patron; Sandra Dunlap, secretary: Carolyn Bennett, treasurer; Stacey York, conductress; Norma Crabtree, PGM, chaplain; Mary Eva Welientichick, marshal; Cynthia Larrabee, Ruth; Harriet Stretton, Esther; Charlene Pelletier, Martha; Marion Hall, Electa; Cheryl Kelly, warder; and Julie Deans, sentinel.
Following the meeting refreshments will be served. All Eastern Star members, Masons, friends and family are invited.
Grange speaker
POLAND – Excelsior Grange 5, 446 Harris Hill Road, will meet at the hall at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5. The agricultural program scheduled has been postponed until Saturday, April 19. A representive of Poland Spring Academy will speak. All members and friends of the grange and the academy are invited.
Fellowship meet
LISBON – The Lisbon Area Widows Fellowship will meet on Monday, April 7, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. The gathering will begin for fellowship at 11:30 a.m. followed by a potluck lunch.
All interested widows in the area are invited. Members are asked to bring food for local food bank.
Art club talk
AUBURN – The annual meeting and luncheon of the Auburn Art Club will be held at noon Monday April 7, at the United Methodist Church of Auburn, Park Avenue. Members should arrive by 11:45 a.m. if possible.
Speaker will be Nel Bernard of Maine Art Glass of Lisbon Falls. The studio offers custom glass commission work and antique leaded glass restoration services in addition to being a teaching facility.
Program committee members are Judith Johnson, Kathy Gleason, Janet Pelletier, Libby Reichard and Elinor Brockway, chairwoman.
