AUBURN – The Mary Dillingham Chapter, National Daughters of the American Revolution, will honor eight high school seniors at a 2:30 p.m. meeting April 9, at the Auburn Public Library.
The students are winners of the annual DAR Good Citizens Award and the DAR National Defense Good Citizenship Medal Award.
They were chosen by their respective schools for outstanding citizenship, honesty, courage, service, leadership and patriotism.
The Good Citizens Award also provides the opportunity for the student to participate in an essay contest, for which scholarships are presented on the state and national levels. The DAR Good Citizens are chosen by the students and faculty of public and accredited schools.
The Good Citizenship Medal Award is given through the National Defense Committee for the same merits. Awards are open to boys and girls.
This year’s DAR Good Citizens winners are:
Buckfield Junior/Senior High School, Susanna E. Cooper, daughter of Kevin and Kimberly Cooper of Buckfield.
Edward Little High School, Kristen J. Erickson, daughter of Dave and Jane Erickson of Auburn.
Leavitt Area High School, Caiden Leavitt, daughter of David Rogers and Mary Leavitt of Turner.
Lewiston High School, Joshua P. Gagne, son of Paul Gagne and Elaine Breau of Lewiston.
The DAR Good Citizenship Medal Award winners are:
Buckfield Junior/Senior High School, Kelly D. Larochelle, daughter of, Keith and Danette Larochelle of Hartford.
Edward Little High School, Christopher W. Mawhinney, son of Daniel and Diane Mawhinney of Auburn.
Leavitt Area High School, Justin Fereshetian, son of Albert and Tammy Fereshetian of Turner.
Lewiston High School, Audrey Bergeron, daughter of Claude and Claudeen Bergeron of Lewiston.
Following a program for the honorees, refreshments will be served.
