LEWISTON – Chapter Martel, Association Canado Americaine, will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, March 10, at the Frye School Hall, 140 Ash St., rear entrance.
A meal will be held at noon at Governor’s restaurant for those who wish to attend. All members are welcome.
Society speaker
LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at the Archives, Rooms 5 and 6, MTM Center, School Street. Bill Barr will speak on “75 Years Ago in Lisbon – 1933.” Refreshments will follow. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Call 353-8510 for details.

DURHAM – The Androscoggin County Firefighters Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at the Durham Fire Station.
OES to meet
AUBURN – The annual meeting of Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. A potluck supper will be held preceding the meeting at 6:15. Members are encouraged to attend.
Talk on work
NEW GLOUCESTER – Kevin Fowler, local resident and top cameraman for Channel 8, will talk of his life and work in the media at the Thursday, March 20, meeting of the New Gloucester Historical Society at the New Gloucester Meeting House, Route 231.
All are invited to the 7 p.m. program. Refreshments will be served. A business meeting will follow.
Dinner/dance
MECHANIC FALLS – A fundraising dinner/dance will be held for the Dennis Dufour family on Friday, April 5, at the American Legion Post, 150 Elm St.
The spaghetti dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased now or at the door for $5.50, adults; $4, children under 12 and seniors. The dance will run from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Cost is $12.50 single or $20 couple. The tickets are limited due to space.
Tickets are available for the dinner and dance at $15 a person.
There will also be a silent auction during that time. For anyone interested purchasing tickets ahead of time or anyone who would like to donate for the silent auction may contact Lesley Dufour at 784-7894 or Jan Jordan 998-2058.
Blood drive
WINTHROP – A community blood drive will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at St. Francis Xavier Parish Hall, Lake Street.
The drive is open to all donors. To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-GIVE LIFE. A form of identification is required.
Instructors needed
LEWISTON – Now in the early stages of planning the next semester, Lewiston Adult Education is seeking new instructors and fresh course ideas.
Anyone with an interest in teaching an adult education class is invited to attend “How to Be an Instructor,” a one-night workshop on the process of becoming a Lewiston Adult Education instructor.
Participants in the free session will learn what topics are generally popular, how to organize ideas and how to submit a course proposal.
The session, originally planned for Thursday, March 20, has been moved to Tuesday, March 18, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lewiston High School. To register, visit www.lewistonadulted.org or call 795-4141.
