LEWISTON — Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care has announced the directors of their 2009-10 board.

Dr. Elaine Makas of Lewiston has been selected as chairwoman. Makas is an Androscoggin County Commissioner and an adjunct associate professor of psychology at University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College. Elwood Trask, an Auburn resident, will serve as vice chairman. Now retired, Trask was most recently employed at Formed Fiber Technologies as Vice President of Technology.

Treasurer Todd Abbotoni of Auburn is a commercial loan officer with TD Banknorth. Secretary Mary Martin of Mechanic Falls is principal of the Elm Street School in Mechanic Falls and was named Maine’s Elementary Principal of the Year in 2005.

New board member Joshua Klein-Golden is a lawyer with Clifford and Golden, P.A. in Lisbon Falls, and also the Register of Probate for Androscoggin County.

Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care has provided child development services to pregnant women, families and children, newborn to age 5, for more than 43 years. Program options include full day, half day, prekindergarten partnerships with local elementary schools, home based, family child care, infant and toddler early Head Start and the child and adult care food program. Centers are located in Lewiston, Auburn, Lisbon Falls, Livermore Falls and Mechanic Falls.
