AUBURN – The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society will host local artist Allyson Collins and her “Humane Inspirations” pieces, artwork inspired by shelter animals, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.
Residents are invited to stop in for a human treat, visit the animals, shop for holiday gifts or pick a needed item from the “Wish Tree.” Humane Inspirations will feature a variety of hand-painted ornaments and decorative boxes, greeting cards, wooden plaque and chalkboard paintings and homemade candy.
The society provides a safe haven for more than 4,000 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area a year. Primary support for the shelter comes from fundraising events and donations.
The shelter is located at 55 Strawberry Ave. Anyone interested in learning more about volunteering at the shelter or adopting an animal should call 783-2311 or visit www.gahumane.org.
