LEWISTON – The Central Maine Medical Center Rotating Art Gallery is featuring the work of Harold Strout of North Monmouth this month.
Strout has been a photographer for more than 15 years and studied photography at Vermont College. He has primarily been involved in traditional landscape subject matter and the creation of “assemblage imagery” using found objects.
Most recently, he has been working with digital capture and printing. “Although digital capture and printing affords a wider palette of potential tools for the creative process and product, I am forever grounded in the traditional craft of making images as a result of the love of the visual experience. Therefore, regardless of subject matter, or whether the potential image is a product of my own creation, the ‘experience and emotion’ underlying this process must always serve as the most vital component within the chain of ongoing visual expression,” said Strout.
He operates a portrait studio in Auburn. Kittyhawk Studio specializes in custom portraiture on site and on location. His prints have been exhibited at the University of Maine, the Chocolate Church Art Gallery and the Blaine House.
