BETHEL – Stephens Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Stephens Volunteer Services and Market Square Health Care Center volunteers were recognized for dedication and commitment at a luncheon at the Bethel Inn and Country Club on Oct. 2.
There were 97 people honored. Attendees socialized and looked through scrapbooks put together by people over the years. The books detail the journey the auxiliary made after being founded nine months before the hospital opened, through the introduction of Stephens Volunteer Services.
Western Maine Health President and CEO Timothy Churchill welcomed the crowd and noted that the hospital wouldn’t be what it is today without their help.
Barbara Allen, director of development and community relations, honored the group, noting the various reasons people volunteer.
Andrea Burns, past president of the Stephens Volunteer Services Council, closed the program, thanking everyone and stating that she was overwhelmed by the dedication and commitment of the people in the room to support the hospital.
Stephens Volunteer Services endeavors to provide assistance to the hospital and assists through volunteerism, fundraising and public relations. Forms for membership and volunteering are available at www.wmhcc.org or from Patricia Porter Rood, volunteer coordinator.
