LEWISTON – Museum L-A recently received a donation of artifacts related to the local shoe industry from Gerry Poulin of Auburn, who worked in area shoe shops for 35 years.

The museum has received several donations of late in anticipation of the Shoeworkers Reunion to be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at the museum headquarters in the Bates Mill Complex.

The reunion is free and open to anyone who works or worked in the shoe shops and related industries in Lewiston-Auburn. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the museum at 333-3881.

There are a limited number of seats available, with 280 people already signed up to attend.

The afternoon will feature handsewing demonstrations, exhibits, tours of the museum and opportunity for socializing. Refreshments will be served.

Museum L-A staff and volunteers will be on hand to accept donations of shoeworking related memorabilia for the collection. Museum L-A is looking to expand its exhibits related to the local shoe shops and their workers and welcomes donations such as tools, photographs and company newsletters.
