MEXICO – The Mexico Public Library hosted a performance by juggler Alan Tacheny and his assistant, son, Seth, on Aug. 21, to celebrate the conclusion of the library’s annual children’s summer reading program.
Following the program certificates were awarded to all who participated in the summer reading incentive program. Additional awards were presented to the following who had logged in 20 or more reading hours during the summer: Hunter Merrill, Taylor Merrill, Lindsay Marston, Esther Farrar, Vernon Farrar, Kristin Arsenault, Heidi Penley, Lily True, Jacob True, Josie Munzner, Tasha Munzner, Noah O’Leary, Nicholas Billings, Nathan Billings, Rachel Averill, Jade Cofferen, Bryan Farrar, Drew Farrar, Zachary Penley, Kelcie Virgin, Kaitlyn Virgin, Emma Somers and Talia Hodge.
Special awards were given to the three top readers in each of three age groups:
Ages 2 to 5: first, Lily True; second, Jade Cofferen; third, Noah O’Leary.
Ages 6 to 10: first, Vernon Farrar; second, Tasha Munzner; third, Jacob True.
Ages 11 to 14: first, Heidi Penley; second, Josie Munzner; third, Esther Farrar.
Awards were followed by a pizza lunch and Popsicles. A total of 2,115 hours of reading time were logged in by the 101 summer reading participants this year.
