Grange to meet
AUBURN – Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Danville Junction Grange for a 6:30 p.m. supper. The business meeting, which will start at 7:30, will include installation of officers conducted by Maine State Deputy Robert Smith of Excelsior Pomona and his team. A 50/50 raffle and attendance drawing will be held. All members and guests are invited.
Seniors to meet
AUBURN – First Auburn Seniors will hold the Wednesday, Sept. 5, meeting at the American Legion Hall on Washington Street. Tickets will be on sale for a chicken luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 19. The cost is $4.
Seats are still available for the trip to Merrimack, N.H., on Thursday, Oct. 11. Payment of $75 is due by Sept. 5. Seats are also available for the “Zoot Suit Riot” trip to Lanana on Nov. 5 in Randolph, Mass. The cost of $68 is due by Oct. 3. It is not necessary to be a member to go on the trips.
There will be the usual raffle table. Bingo will be played following a bag lunch. The board will meet at 10 a.m. and members at 11.
The annual fall fair and flee market is planned for Saturday, Sept. 29.
Seniors lunch
MONMOUTH – The Golden Years Club will hold its first fall meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 5, beginning with a noon potluck luncheon at the Packard Activity Center, United Church basement. Possible fall activities will be discussed. All senior citizens are welcome to attend.
Society supper
BOWDOIN – The Bowdoin Historical Society will meet on Sunday, Sept. 9, at FHC Inc., Main Street. A potluck supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6. The program will follow the meeting. All are welcome.
Seniors cookout
LEWISTON – The Lewiston Senior Citizens will hold their annual cookout at noon Monday, Sept. 10, at the Multi-Purpose Center. Anyone over age 50 is welcome. There will be a $3 charge.
Travelers meal
LEWISTON – Members of Twin City Council 160, United Commercial Travelers of America, will hold a dinner meeting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Marco’s Restaurant. All members and guests are welcome. Reservations may be made by calling Past Grand Councilor Robert Blanchard at 783-9471.
Membership drive
AUBURN – Carl Douglass, Auburn VFW Post 1603 commander and District 9 commander, has announced that he will have a membership recruiting table set up at the Auburn Mall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8.
Working with Douglass will be Tom Trottier, post senior vice commander; Don Linscott, post and state VFW quartermaster; and Arthur J. Roy, past state commander and adjutant of the Auburn VFW.
Anyone wishing to become a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars or anyone who has questions may stop by and see them.

Hummel club
LEWISTON – Nor’easter Maine Chapter, M.I. Hummel Collector’s Club, will hold its first fall meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St.

Fellowship meet
LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Area Widows Fellowship will meet on Monday, Sept. 10, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. The gathering will begin with fellowship at 11:30 a.m. followed by a potluck lunch. All interested widows in the area are invited.
DAR new year
AUBURN – The Mary Dillingham Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will kick off the new year of meetings at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the summer home of Bea Hodgkin. Members should bring a bag lunch.
The DAR is open to any woman over the age of 18 who can prove a direct blood line to a Revolutionary War patriot or person who gave aid to the cause. Experienced genealogists can help with research. All prospective members are welcome. Mrs. Hodgkin’s summer home is at the end of Cove Road. Call Mary Jane Densmore for directions or more information at 998-7025.
Bridge results
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Aug. 28 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Martine Begert and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, Nancy Lindgren and Lucille Theriault; third, Richard Balian and Peter Cummings; fourth, Claire Lyons and Marta Clements. Winners in Flight B were Richard Balian and Peter Cummings. Another game will be played at 9 Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the center.
The club also met on Aug. 29 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners were: first, Luke Merry and Paul Barber; second, Mike and Pat Quinn; third, Jim Flanagan and Lucille Theriault.
There will be no game held on Wednesday, Sept. 5. There will be a game on Wednesday, Sept. 12, and the Instant Matchpoint Game will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Schooner Estates.
