LEWISTON – Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice will host its annual fundraiser, Autumn Night Out, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Martindale Country Club. Reservations are $50 a person. All proceeds will benefit hospice services.

Now in its fourth year, Autumn Night Out 2007 will include a lite-fare buffet, sampling of beer and wine, a chocolate fountain, music by harpist Melanie Lee and silent and live auctions.

Auction items have been donated by many local businesses and artists and will include trips to New York City, a ski vacation in Quebec and a New Hampshire get-away for two.

Last year, the agency provided hospice care to more than 1,000 people at home, in nursing facilities and at the Hospice House in Auburn. Support from community events like Autumn Night Out are important to sustaining the volunteer and bereavement support services offered to patients and family members, as well as care provided to patients who lack health insurance.

The nonprofit Medicare-certified agency annually provides comprehensive hospice care to more than 1,000 residents of central and western Maine through its local offices in Lewiston, Bridgton, Oxford, Wilton and at the Hospice House located in Auburn.

It specializes in hospice care for residents of long-term-care facilities, as well as those living in their own homes. In November 2005, AHCH opened Maine’s first inpatient hospice facility, designed to meet the end-of-life care needs for patients who can no longer be cared for at home.
