FARMINGTON – Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset Counties is the recipient of a Maine Community Foundation grant in the amount of $6,000.
The grant was co-written by board Treasurer Alexis DesRoches and new Project Manager Arin Hilton.
Hilton’s position will be funded by the grant and is designed to encourage strategic planning, growth, sustainability and national accreditation through ProLiteracy Worldwide, the parent organization of Literacy Volunteers.
Coordinator Joan Moes will continue in her leadership role in the organization, creating student and tutor bonds, organizing and hosting community events and promoting literacy for all people in Franklin and Somerset counties.
There will be two workshops offered this fall for those interested in becoming Literacy Volunteer tutors.
