Church supper
PARIS – A baked bean supper will be held with two sittings at 5 and 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at the First Baptist Church of Paris, the church at the top of the hill.
There will be several kinds of baked beans, hot dogs, lasagna, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, salad, yeast rolls, brown bread, pies, crisps, coffee, ice tea and punch. The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children under age 12.
Containers of beans will be available for takeout. Proceeds will to go toward office equipment. For more information, call 743-5198.
Holiday breakfast
STONEHAM – Stoneham Rescue’s annual Labor Day breakfast will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, at the Rescue Barn on Butter Hills Road. Menu will include plain or blueberry pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, coffee, juice, tea or hot chocolate. Cost is $5 person and $2.50 for children age 12 and under.
Women’s workshop
PARIS – Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community will offer a free self-esteem workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 7, at the Western Maine University and Community College in South Paris. Fair parade
OXFORD – The Oxford County Fair parade will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 and all are invited to participate. There will be first-, second- and third-place prizes in each division.
The parade will line up at 10 a.m. at the race track entrance and will start at 11. The parade will go around the track, entering and exiting the same gate. All spectators will be on the fair side of the track only. For more information, call Marcia Campbell-Cummings at 743-5528.
Yard, bake sale
OXFORD – A yard and bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Hooker Farms, 195 Pleasant St. All proceeds will go to Waterford Grange 479 for a new fire escape.
Bridge results
NORWAY – The Oxford Hills Bridge Club met Aug. 25 at the Fare Share Co-op for a seven-table Mitchell game.
The winners for North-South were: first, Richard Allen and Pete Cummings; second, Anne Cormier and Woody Mercier; third, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer.
The winners for East-West were: first, Richard Balian and Bailey Geeslin; second, Marilyn and Richard Canton; third, Donna and Ozzie Swett.
All level bridge players are welcome.
