Baking contest

ANDOVER – The Andover Service Circle will host the judging of apple pies by the Best of America by Horseback at the Andover Congregational Church from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. Winners will be announced at 5.

There is no fee to enter. Applications must be submitted to the Andover Town Office by Friday, Sept. 7. For more information, call the town office at 392-3302. After the contest, the circle will sell the remaining pie and coffee.

Bridge winners

RUMFORD – The Rumford Duplicate Bridge Club winners at the duplicate game on Aug. 2 were: first, Anna Cormier and Ossie Swett; second, Marilyn and Eric Sahlburg; third, Paula Humbert and Clara Roy.

At the regular game on Aug. 9 the winners were: first, Anna Cormier and Jen Cohen; second, Lillian Irish and Clara Roy; third, Bill and Jean Hersey.
