LEWISTON – For those who enjoyed the activities of the Franco FunFest, another opportunity to celebrate a connection to the French heritage here will be available in early September.

Lewiston Adult Education has teamed up with the staff of Museum L/A to offer a learning opportunity that the entire family can enjoy. Participants can take an interactive guided tour from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 8, to learn about the history of Lewiston’s Mill District.

The tour will begin at Museum L/A and will include the history of Bates Mill Building 5. Participants will find out about the industrial history of Lewiston-Auburn during the early 1900s and the impact on the people living in the communities.

The tour will include a visit to the canal system to find out how imports and exports were moved using the waterways and train. The morning will end at the Maine Heritage Weavers to see how the quality weaving techniques are still used today.

The cost of the program is $5 a person. Preregistration is required and space is limited. For more information or to register, contact Lewiston Adult Education at 795-4141 or online at www.lewistonadulted.org.
