Lawn fair

STRONG – A lawn fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Strong United Methodist Church. Luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m.

Class reunion

FARMINGTON – The 65th reunion of the class of 1942 at Farmington High School will meet at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at the Granary for lunch and a time of reminiscing.

Classmates are expected from Washington state, California and up and down the eastern seaboard. More than 30 of the original 70 classmates are expected to attend. Forty of the 70 are still alive.

Local classmates are invited to participate in the Saturday and Sunday morning activities.

Homecoming

FARMINGTON – Farmington Falls Union Baptist Church will host its annual “Home Coming Service” on Sunday, Aug. 12. Following the 9 a.m. service, there will be a potluck picnic brunch. Everyone is welcome to bring their favorite picnic specialties to be placed on the buffet table to be shared.

Circle sale

PHILLIPS – The Reed’s Mill Ladies Circle will have a craft and quilt sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 17 and 18, at 14 School St. behind the library. There will be a variety of handcrafted items and quilts for sale. Proceeds will benefit the Reed’s Mill Church.

Food sale

PHILLIPS – There will be a food sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, on the lawn of the Phillips Congregational Church. Under the tent, shoppers will find an array of baked goods and other treats to complement a summer meal. The food sale will benefit the Shared Ministry Women.

Benefit tourney

JAY – The fourth annual “Big El” softball tournament will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, on the fields in Jay. The benefit tournament honors Elwood Harris, who supported youth baseball and men’s softball as a coach for more than 25 years.

The one-pitch tournament entry fee is $125 a team. Entry fees must be made in advance unless special arrangements are made with tournament officials. Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third places.

Proceeds will go to Umbagog Dialysis Center and to a scholarship at Mt. Blue High School. There will be food and beverages sold at both fields. Any interested teams can contact Jeff Harris at 778-5003 or 778-1057 or Don Knight at 897-5239. Entry deadline is Sept. 1.

Class luncheon

RUMFORD – Mexico High School Class of 1948 will hold a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Teena’s Restaurant.

Class meeting
