FARMINGTON – Clifton L. Staples, a student at Mt. Blue High School, has been accepted to study at the Chewonki Foundation’s Maine Coast Semester in Wiscasset for the fall 2007.

Maine Coast Semester is a challenging semester school for juniors, emphasizing the natural world, hands-on work, sustainability and community. Students attend traditional classes, but also study field ecology, work on a farm, participate in outdoor programs, live in rustic, wood-heated cabins and learn about a suite of renewable energy options, such as hydrogen and biodiesel production, and solar energy alternatives.

Staples is the first student from Mt. Blue to attend Maine Coast Semester. He lives in Temple.
