Brickmaker projects under way at museum
LEWISTON – Museum L-A will soon unveil a new display on the history of local brickmaking at its headquarters in the Bates Mill Complex.
In related projects, local brickmakers are being sought for an upcoming oral history project and reunion.
“We are finalizing the plans for an exhibit of our millworkers and now we need to start doing oral histories of our brickmakers,” said Museum L-A Executive Director Rachel Desgrosseilliers.
“We are looking for help from former brickmakers. We need their knowledge and experiences to help us document that industry for future generations,” she continued. “As it was with the millworkers, we need to do all this as soon as possible – before it is too late to record these stories.”
Any former brickmaker should contact Dumas by phone at 333-3881 or e-mail her at [email protected].
