TURNER – Turner Memorial Post 111, American Legion, held a memorial ceremony recently, laying a “Wreath of Enduring Memory” at the World Wars I and II stone near the Turner Village Church.
Invitations were sent out and Sen. John Nutting attended as the key speaker. Commander Warren Clark officiated, with Chaplain Paul Bernard and First Vice Commander Harris Bradeen taking part.
Placing the wreath were Francis Murphy, 80, Walter Bergman, 84, and Henry Poisson, 83. Honor guards were Joe Velozo, presenting the U.S. flag; Frederick Cilley, American Legion flag; and Ronald Hiscock, POW/MIA flag. Justin Castagna served as bugler, playing “Taps” in front of a Grand Army of the Republic gravestone.
State Legislator Larry Sirois headed the Turner Village Church Hospitality Committee that provided a light lunch after the ceremony.
