Grange to elect
WINTHROP – Winthrop Grange 209 will meet at 6:30 p.m. today for a potluck supper at the Grange Hall, Old Lewiston Road. A business meeting and election of officers will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Grange supper
LIVERMORE – Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange will meet on Wednesday, June 6, at New Norlands Grange in East Livermore for a 6:30 p.m. supper. The meeting, which will start at 7:30, will include a memorial service and election of officers. All members and guests are welcome.
Seniors to meet
MONMOUTH – The Golden Age Seniors will meet Wednesday, June 6, at the Packard Activity Center, United Church, for a noon potluck luncheon. Possible summer activities will be discussed. All senior citizens are welcome.
Lodge meeting
AUBURN – Tranquil Lodge 29, AF and AM, will have a special meeting to work the Master Mason degree on a candidate at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at the lodge hall, 1021 Turner St. It will be inspection night. There will be a supper at 6:30, and all Master Masons are welcome.
Card party
AUBURN – Red Hatters are planning a card party at the Auburn Esplanade, 20 Great Falls Plaza, from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 7. There will be door prizes, raffle, 50/50 and a light lunch. Tickets are $4.
Seniors lunch
AUBURN – There will be a meeting for Sacred Heart Golden Age Club at noon Tuesday, June 12, at the church. Lunch will consist of macaroni and cheese, hot dogs, vegetables and dessert. OES to initiate
LISBON FALLS – Pioneer Chapter 11, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold a special meeting for initiation at 7 p.m. Friday, June 8, at the Ancient York Masonic Hall, Route 196. Refreshments will be served following the meeting. All members of the order are invited.
Collecting flags
AUBURN – Carl Douglass, post commander, has announced that the Capt. Frank W. Hulett Post 1603, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, has made arrangements with the Auburn Wal-Mart, in honor of Flag Day, to collect frayed on nonusable American flags from June 10 through 16.
A special box will be set up by customer service where the flags can be collected. After collecting the flags, the Auburn VFW will hold a ceremony to dispose of the flags as required by U.S. Flag Code.
Clean sweep
LEWISTON – The Bates College annual Clean Sweep Sale 2007 will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 16, in the Underhill Arena, 145 Russell St. The arena is filled with items left behind by students at the end of the school year, including furniture, electronics, clothes, toys, rugs, bikes and books. All is sold at yard sale prices and the proceeds go to participating local nonprofit organizations.
Bridge play
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on May 29 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Flight A winners were: first, Fred Letourneau and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, Patricia Smith and Shirley West; tied at third, Mary Leahey and Patricia Quinn with David Lock and Patricia Garcia; fifth, Jim Flanagan and Lucille Bilodeau.
Flight B winners were: first, Jim Flanagan and Lucille Bilodeau; second, Richard Balian and Jim Dickens. Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 5.
The club also met on May 30 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners were: first, Luke Merry and Paul Barber; second, Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin; third, David Lock and Martine Begert; fourth, Leslie Buzzell and John Hackett.
