Science volunteers work with students

LISBON – Antoinette Mercadante and Winnie Chan worked with the Philip W. Sugg Middle School eighth-grade science classes of Marilyn Curtis and Melissa Martin recently. They focused on the concepts of density and buoyancy.

Mercadante and Chan are members of Maine School Science Volunteers, a nonprofit organization that brings together volunteer engineers and other physical scientists to assist teachers in middle school science and math classrooms.

Other members of the group will work with the classes on upcoming units on energy and motion.
