PORTLAND – The Cheverus Math Team reached new heights on April 10 at the State Math Meet in Bangor. After eight years as Division C champions, Cheverus was the overall state champion, beating out the winners of all four divisions. The win came after completing the regular season in first place.

Three students were recognized for their individual performance at the state meet. Michael Jerome of Falmouth was the second-place sophomore and tied for second place overall. William Fallon of Scarborough was the top scoring junior and Joe Rodrigues of Westbrook was the sixth highest scoring junior.

Bethany Potter of Auburn, Mike Krasowski of Portland, Karin Renger of Cape Elizabeth, Malcolm Macomber of Portland, Devin Ivy of South Portland, Emily Lambert of Cumberland Foreside and Alexander Cadman of Westport completed the team.

Six Cheverus students distinguished themselves during the regular season and have earned invitations to represent the state in the National Math Meet at Penn State University in early June. They are Michael Jerome, Bill Fallon, Joe Rodrigues, Karin Renger, Bethany Potter and Malcolm Macomber.
