TURNER – Spring and summer classes sponsored by SAD 52 River Valley Adult and Community Education will start shortly.
On Saturday, May 19, there will be a nature walk and hike up Streaked Mountain. It is a rugged climb that can sometimes be steep. A one-evening workshop will be held on Tuesday, May 22, to make potpourri hoops.
Medical transcription, an in-depth 16-week course, will start Tuesday, May 29. It is open to diploma and GED graduates. Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Word and have a typing speed of 35 words a minute.
A reptiles and amphibians workshop will be held Saturday, June 2, and will feature slide show, videos and hands-on experience. Tales will be told and parents are welcome.
Driver dynamics with Karen’s Driving School is a five-hour defensive driving/driver improvement program that will take place on Tuesday and Thursday, June 5 and 7. Persons completing the course will receive a 3-point credit on their driving record.
Learn the basics of jewelry-making in a four-week class starting Wednesday, June 6. Participants can create a three-piece jewelry set by the end of the class.
A mother and daughter middle eastern belly dance workshop will be held Saturday, June 9. Moms and daughters can also consist of friends, grandmothers, cousins or sisters. Suitable for ages 9 and up and there is no dance experience required.
On Saturday, June 9, a nature walk and hike up Monument Hill in Leeds will be held. The hike is not a long or difficult climb. Square Foot Gardening on Monday, June 11, will show the way to increase the yield of a fruit and vegetable garden by 300 percent.
A 10-week French for Beginners II class will start Monday, June 11. The class will give insight into the English language. Spanish for Beginners II will start Wednesday, June 13, and run for 10 weeks.
