FARMINGTON – A potluck supper preceded the May meeting of Farmington Emblem Club 460. The meeting began when Doreen Cardona and Phyllis Jones were initiated into membership.
President Nancy Chase asked that all committee chairwomen give their year-end reports.
Quinnale Kinsey, in charge of Americanism, read two stories. She reminded those present to fly their flags for the important days in May, including Memorial Day. On Saturday, May 19, other members will join her in placing flags on graves of departed members. On Monday, May 14, members will present a flag-folding ceremony at Sandy River Rehab Center.
On Sunday, June 17, the club will prepare and serve a Father’s Day breakfast at the Farmington Elks Lodge from 7 to 10 a.m. Fathers eat breakfast free; others will be charged $5 for adults and $3.50 for children.
Members will have their yearly “night out” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at LaFleur’s Restaurant in Jay.
Donations will be made to Sandy River Rehab Center, to a girl in a Miss Teen pageant, to the Augusta Emblem Club toward flag poles to be placed in the Veterans Cemetery and to Charlotte Mills, an Emblem member from Rockland, who will run for fourth vice president of the Supreme Emblem Club at the convention in September.
Janette Jackson won this month’s mystery gift and Jean Corcoran, 50-50 raffle.
