BRIDGTON – Bridgton Hospital will host its annual “Everyday in a Woman’s Life” Health Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at the hospital.
Pamela Smith, director of community relations and development, said the event “will be the biggest and best so far! This fair has become a yearly centerpiece of outreach efforts to women in our community, raising awareness of their healthcare needs, of course, but at the same time making the day fun with massages, paraffin hand waxes, demonstrations of watercolor painting and the sale of Kazuri Beads and Java Jewels, which support the FairTrade Women’s Coop in Kenya and Bali.
The event has continued to grow and in 2007 the hospital will utilize both the clinic and main lobby and will offer four fascinating break-out lectures.”
The fair also will feature a sale of Lucinda Pins to benefit the Special Delivery Family Birthing Center.
There will be four speaker sessions offered on the hour starting at 9:30. Speakers and topics include: 9:30, “Women’s Intuition – You’ve Got It, Now What?,” Raven Star Merrill, Sacred Path Readings; 10:30, “Healthy Choices for Weight Loss – Using the Stars,” Sheryl Hoehner, RD, nutrition coordinator, Hannaford Supermarkets; 11:30, “All Together: Mind, Body and Soul,” Maureen Harpell, family nurse practitioner; and 12:30, “Your Teenager and Sex: Got Questions?,” Catherine Heffernan, CNM, Blue Moon Midwives and Women’s Healthcare.
All fair vendors will have interactive booths, offering a broad range of information and on-site demonstrations. A full schedule of events and providers will be provided in the weeks ahead. There will also be an extensive list of raffle drawings, including five $50 Hannaford gift cards, six one-month memberships for Curves for Women, Kazuri Beads and Java Jewel necklaces, gift baskets and books.
