LEWISTON – One hundred children attending pre-school and child care at Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care’s Coburn and B Street classrooms were given the opportunity to attend Sesame Street Live “Super Grover! Ready for Action!” on March 21 at the Colisee.
Maine Public Broadcasting Network donated show tickets, and the Maine Dairy Promotion Council provided pre-show snacks and milk for the children.
The excitement began when Sesame Street residents Zo and Rosita stopped by the pre-show party for a visit. Children were given the opportunity to sit with the furry monsters and have their photos taken. Children then saw the show and all of their favorite Sesame Street characters on the stage.
Estelle Rubinstein, executive director of Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care, said, “Many of our children would not have had the opportunity to attend this event if not for the generosity of Maine Public Broadcasting Network. Their support has given these children a fabulous memory. We thank Maine Public Broadcasting Network immensely for their caring and thoughtfulness.”
Applications for Head Start programs are accepted at any time. Most programs are free to eligible children. Call 795-4040 for more information or visit www.androkids.com.
