LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club will meet at noon Thursday, April 26, at the Ramada Inn. Members will hear a presentation by Scott Jameson, volunteer for the New England Organ Bank.

Jameson is a donor husband and lives in Auburn. In 2005 his wife, Candice, died but was able to save the lives of many as an organ and tissue donor. Jameson will share his personal experiences with donation and will tell people how they can save lives by registering to become a donor.

The New England Organ Bank is the oldest independent organ bank in the country. It is the federally-designated organ procurement organization for most of New England.

Through offices located around the region, the bank provides transplant program at New England hospitals with the organs necessary to perform kidney, heart, lung, liver and pancreas transplants.

It also provides donated tissue, such as bone, vein and heart valves to area hospitals and surgeons for transplantation. The bank shares organs regionally and nationally through the United Network for Organ Sharing. There are more than 95,000 men, women and children waiting for an organ transplant in this country.

Anyone wishing to hear the speaker or to learn more about Rotary is welcome to attend. Weekly buffet luncheons are $8 a person. Access the club’s Web site at www.lewistonauburnrotary.org for more information.
