AARP speaker

LEWISTON – The Androscoggin Chapter 4077, AARP, will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, April 23, at the Multi-Purpose Center on Birch Street. The directors will meet at 12:30 p.m.

Joyce Matthews, an AmeriCorps member serving at the United Valley Chapter, American Red Cross, and in training to become a lay responder first aid and CPR/AED instructor, will speak about basic first aid and preparing for a disaster.

Anyone age 50 or older is invited to attend. There will be attendance and pot of gold drawings. Refreshments will be served.

Card party

LEWISTON – The St. Patrick’s Church Rosary Sodality will hold its annual card party at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at Monsignor Gleason Hall.

Joyce Ouellette is chairwoman for the event; in charge of tickets are Geraldine Ricker and Mary Booth; raffles, Louise Allen and Carolyn Burke; and refreshments, Pat Berube and Theresa Roy.

Legion to elect

LISBON – Coombs Mountfort Post and Unit 158, American Legion, will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the post home, Webster Street. Nomination and election of officers will be held.

Meeting notice

LEWISTON – The National Active Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at 1130 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the Ramada Inn.

Plans for the meeting were made at the home of Vi Dumais. Attending were Sue Stetson, Mike and Flo Bohunicky, Doris Hamel and Joanne Morse.

Breakfast set

AUBURN – Modern Woodmen of America Camp 8794 will sponsor a breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 30, at Roy’s All Steak Hamburger, 5 Washington St.

There will be a choice of two eggs, sausage, home fries and toast or two eggs, corned beef hash and toast, with coffee or small juice included. The cost to attend is $2 a person. A drawing will be held for a family door prize.

Those who plan to attend should purchase tickets at Modern Woodmen’s office, 67 Minot Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Registration

POLAND – If a child will be attending kindergarten at the Poland Community School in the fall, parents need to contact the school to preregister. The school will need the following information: child’s name, parent(s) names, home address, home telephone number, child’s date of birth and the name of the child’s day care, if applicable. Call 998-4915 to preregister. Kindergarten registration will take place on May 31 and June 1. Call to schedule an appointment.

Model RR show

TOPSHAM – There will be a model railroad show and vendor exhibits from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Mt. Ararat High School. All are welcome. Admission is $4 for adults; $2 for children under 15.
