Informational meet

RUMFORD – SMART Child and Family Services will hold an informal meeting for those interested in learning more about foster care and for foster parents interested in leaning the difference between regular and treatment level foster care.

The Oxford and Franklin County areas need foster homes for children unable to stay in their own home. Those with an interest in learning more about foster care should consider attending the meeting.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the Hotel Harris, 25 Hartford St., on the mezzanine level. Light refreshments will be served. Those attending the meeting should call Jo Bradeen at 364-4820 For more information, call Bradeen or visit www.smartcfs.org.

Social gathering

FARMINGTON – The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is hosting a get-together for all cancer survivors, their caregivers and families at 6:30 p.m. Thursday April 26, at the Elks Lodge, School Street, West Farmington.

The event is reaching out to survivors and caregivers to let them know their importance in the annual relay. A presentation will be made on what it means to be a survivor and their role in the relay.

There will be an assortment of desserts along with punch and coffee. Sugar-free items will be available. For more information or questions, call Colleen Bate at 652-2154 or 491-3912.

Grange program

LIVERMORE FALLS – April is Grange Month and New Norlands is planning to celebrate. The grange will have a display in the window of the Sturtevant and Ham Insurance Co., Main Street.

A meeting on Saturday, April 28, will begin with a potluck meal at noon. Members should bring a hot dish, salad or dessert to share. The afternoon program will begin at 1:30 p.m. and will include the Silver and Gold Band, a speaker on the town clock and other entertainment.

Rummage sale

STRONG – The UMW of the Strong United Methodist Church will hold the annual spring rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, the Parish House. There will be clothes, toys, books, white elephant items, baked goods and fudge. There will be a luncheon put on by the Sunday School.
