SALEM – Shem Dixon, a senior at Mt. Abram High School, has received the 2007 Principal’s Award, Principal Jeanne Tucker recently announced. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principal’s Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship. Dixon is the son of Scott and Cindy Dixon of Avon.

Dixon has been an honor student, a gifted athlete and a worthy citizen of Mt. Abram over his four years at the school, said Tucker. He is president of the National Honor Society and has participated in soccer, the Nordic ski team and the track team. He has distinguished himself as a fine role model and is respected throughout his school and his community, she said.

Dixon recently traveled with his principal to the MPA honors luncheon at the Bangor Civic Center.

The luncheon recognized the students with an individual plaque. In addition, five $1,000 scholarships were presented in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler.
