Retired teachers

WILTON – Franklin County Unit of Retired Teachers will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, at the East Wilton Grange Hall. Lunch will be served.

The topic of the program will be the history of the banjo as a musical instrument. Bill Reid of New Sharon will sing and play the banjo. For reservations, call 778-4282.

Audubon talk

FARMINGTON – Western Maine Audubon will host a program on canoeing in Labrador at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, in Room Room C-23, Roberts Learning Center, University of Maine at Farmington.

Board member Bob Kimber will present a slide show and talk about his 2005 canoe trip on the Clark and McPhadden rivers in Labrador. The program is free and open to the public.

Benefit dance

JAY – A benefit dance to help the family of the late Michael Newcomb of Wilton, who died recently, will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, April 21, at the VFW. The band Forefront will play. Tickets are $10 a person. Raffle tickets are also available. For more information, contact Pam at 240-3767.
