RUMFORD – The Rumford Hospital/Rumford Rotary Blood Drive on Feb. 28 was the best in the state that day, said Jess Eastman, Red Cross account executive.

Rumford Hospital and the Rumford Area Rotary join forces to sponsor three blood drives each year, all held at the American Legion. At 89 good pints of blood, it was the most successful drive ever, except for one immediately following 9/11.

Hospital Auxiliary and Rotary members volunteer at the drives, as well as make reminder phone calls to donors prior to the drives.

Three different sponsors use the American Legion because its space adapts well to the Red Cross equipment.

New donors are always needed. To be notified about the next Rumford Hospital/Rotary Blood Drive, call RH Community Relations at 369-1143.
