LEWISTON – The United Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross has announced its selection of this year’s Real Heroes Awards as follows:
Christian Bate for Life Remembered; Emily Beaulieu for Youth Community Service; Jerry Dewitt for UV-ARC Volunteer Service; Ashley Morgan for Community Educational Outreach; Sheila Roy for Community Medical Outreach; John Johansen for Military Service; Trevor and Travis Desmond for Life Saving-Youth; Erin Murphy for Life Saving- Young Adult; Officer Corey Jacques and Officer William Rousseau for Public Safety and Central Maine Medical Center for Outstanding Medical Provider.
The winners will be honored at a breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, March 15, at the University of Southern Maine, Lewiston-Auburn campus. For ticket or sponsorship information, call Laurie Levine at 795-4004 or visit www.maine.redcross.org.
The event recognizes individuals or groups who have demonstrated an act of heroism and have shown courage, kindness and unselfish character in their service to others.
The funds raised during the event will directly benefit emergency services programs ensuring that the chapter can continue to provide local disaster relief to the United Valley community, while enabling individuals to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.
