LEWISTON – Parents from Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care recently visited the CareerCenter, located at 5 Mollison Way.

Children of the participants are enrolled in classrooms at the Multi-Purpose Center, Coburn School and Hillview Center, and the classroom at Walton School in Auburn. They were given a presentation on the benefits of using the CareerCenter in their job search.

Karlene Duval, CareerCenter consultant, explained to the 10 participating men and women that the CareerCenter is not just about jobs, it provides many other resources, such as career research, education and training. All of the services are free.

Duval said every job seeker faces difficulties, and the CareerCenter helps people to overcome the issues that hinder their job search.

Workshops on picking a career, writing a resume and interviewing skills are offered, as well as support groups for job seekers.

Even a person who is currently employed, and may be considering a career change or looking for a new job, can use and benefit from the services of the CareerCenter.

After a brief tour of the facilities, including the computer terminals and other equipment available to help in their search, the parents were returned to their children’s classrooms.

CareerCenters bring employers and job seekers together through a network of employment, training and career development resources. Services are given at no cost to individuals and businesses.
